Zander Theiss is an active performer and educator in New York City. He actively performs throughout the city in a variety of settings including full orchestras, theatre pit orchestras, chamber music settings, brass choirs, big bands, and solos. Zander performs in venues such as Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall under the direction of prestigious conductors such as Joel Revzen, Gerard Schwartz, and Mark Shapiro. In his summers, Zander performs at festivals such as Festival Napa Valley and Lake George Music Festival.
Zander is a current faculty member at the Mannes School of Music Prep Division. Over the past decade, Zander has taught music in public schools in Maryland, Texas, and New York as well as maintaining a private lesson studio.
Mentored by Metropolitan Opera Pricipal Trombonist Demian Austin, Zander obtained a Performance Certificate from the Mannes School of Music. Zander received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Texas Tech University and his Masters from Texas Christian University. His other primary teachers include Dr. David Begnoche and Jim Decker.
